I was talking to a friend this week when we met up for lunch and I said I want to take She Geechee to a new level. I want to highlight more historical facts about our culture, talk more about black-owned things, have more interviews, and really go in on my culture but how do I find the time? I tried hiring a writer but that hasn’t panned out like I had hoped so yeah it’s tough trying to do everything on your own but we will continue on. Welcome to another edition of the Gullah Porch, where the tea is hot this week.

Small Business

Brown Sugar Babe…I shouldn’t give them a shout-out because they were rude to me when I went to the store here in Atlanta. Ignored me and went to a customer after me, but I will still do my best to share black owned businesses.

I side-eye him a lot, but I will say he did a lot for our culture. May he rest in peace.

Ask the Geechee Gal

Q: What is your favorite city in SC that’s not Charleston?

I like Greenville, SC. It’s very nice there and it’s peaceful. Doesn’t give me the Charleston vibes but it gives me a good family friendly vibe that I love. The food there is awesome and so are the people. I went there a few years ago and had a blast and I think I may need to do a trip there soon. My favorite spot was the Falls park I could sit there for hours. Also, Jesse Jackson is from there, which I actually didn’t know, so that’s a fun fact.

Sound off in the comments! If you have a business you want to share or join in on the question of the week, please use our comment section to come to the porch. You can also email me info@shegeechee.com to ask a question without using your name.
