Welcome back to the porch where the tea is hot because its cold outchea. I’m back with our Gullah porch series. Missed last week time caught up with me and I didn’t have time to get an issue out but I’m back. If you are new here the Gullah Porch is a place where we get to shop a small business, get some wisdom, read something about us as black folks, and I get to answer a question.

One of my favorite boutiques. I’m plus size so it’s slim pickings but when she does have things in my size I’m happy.

I gotta pronounce his name right, but I am proud of NY and I feel like I live there and voted for him myself.
Ask the Geechee Gal
Q: Do you love Atlanta? Why or why not?
I don’t love it here, I’ll be honest. I think people feel that Atlanta is the black mecca and it’s the place where dreams come true for black people and I think it can be but you will have to figure out how to bypass the scammers and wanna be folks. I’ve been in Atlanta for over 15 years (only because I have kids who only know Atlanta as home) and I haven’t found my footing here. That doesn’t mean it can’t be found it just means you have to do a lot of work, and I have kinda thrown in the towel on finding my community here. I love when I go home and feel at home (Chucktown)….I don’t get that in Atlanta but that’s me everyone will be different.
