It’s Friday and it’s cool in Jawja. Yes I live in Jawja (it’s how I pronounce it) but I am from the Chuck. Came here for college, got married, had kids, you know the spill. Decided to stay til they graduate high school and then my plans are to come back to Charleston to live and retire on out. That’s the plans but God be like I love it, here are my plans lol. Welcome to another edition of the Gullah Porch. Where we meet on the porch, sip some tea, get some wisdom, shop at a small business, and I get to answer some questions people ask me all the time.

Q: Why don’t you ever show your face for your brand?
I am shy, and I’m an introvert, believe it or not I hate being in front of the camera, it’s awkward for me. I know that in today’s world, people buy from the person, but I want you to buy from me regardless of who I am. Do you like the product and what it stands for, then buy. Take me out of the equation. Also, I think that sometimes it’s ok to be different. Do you know who owns some of your favorite brands? Nope, you don’t know unless you look them up, you buy because you love the products and the customer service. I promise you I’m a real person behind the brand and not ai….also I’m not white.
