How to spend 24 hours in Mt. Pleasant, SC

Back in the day, my mom used to work in Mt. Pleasant and there was this bridge that she had to go over that literally moved. If you are from Charleston, SC you know the bridge. If I could close my eyes and cross over it I would but that wouldn’t be good lol. They have since built a new bridge which is just as scary but I manage to get across it a time or two. A few weekends ago I went home to do a small wedding over there and decided to stay over there the entire time. We literally didn’t leave to go to downtown Charleston or anywhere else. It was the first time I spent all day in Mt. Pleasant so I thought I would give you all an itinerary of what we did and some places you need to check out. Let’s see how to spend 24 hours in Mt Pleasant, SC.

If you are out of town and have no place to stay make sure you check out Hyatt House. We stayed there during our stay and it was very nice! I wanted to stay next to the venue that I was taking the pics at so I could leave my kids and party harder if I needed too. Which actually happened. It turned into an adult party later on and I was able to drop my kids back off at the hotel which was in walking distance of the venue so I knew they were right where I could get to them if something went down.

We ate breakfast at a spot called Viscious Biscuits. Everyone ranted and raved about how great the place was so we knew we needed to check it out. It did not disappoint. I love that spot and I truly want to open one in GA. If I win the lottery I will. I had the shrimp and grits with a big ole biscuit to sop up that grits. My kids had the chicken and waffle and it was excellent with the various butters they serve. Also the coffee….I would go there just for their coffee.

After we ate we decided to walk the beach. It was pretty cool but still nice enough to walk. I am used to Kiawah Island and Folly Beach so I rarely get to the Isles of Palms.

We went to the beach and parking was…I don’t even know what to say about parking. We didn’t know where to park so we ended up parking in front of a house that clearly had a sign that said don’t park but we did it anyway. Don’t follow us. Make sure you find a place to park that is for everyone to park. We like to live dangerously. We spent about an hour at the beach just soaking up the sun. I like Folly Beach better but this had a nice area to do some romantic photoshoots.

Lunch was at Pages Okra Grill. Some folks love the spot and some don’t. We liked it and the fried grits was the main dish we came for. We decided to walk off our food by going to Boone Hall. The purpose for me was to capture some great photos but I also wanted my kids to get to know a little bit about where I’m from. Boone Hall is also one of America’s oldest working farms. They have been continuously growing and producing crops for over three centuries. They are known for cotton and pecans but they have also added some other things like strawberries, peaches and other produce. If you are a photographer this is a place that you want to have in your photo collection.

After that we decided to go to Mt Pleasant Towne Hall for some window shopping and we needed to waste time because we were meeting up with a friend for dinner. Dinner was done at Grace and Grit. It’s one of my favorite places to eat and if you go on the right evening where it’s warm you can sit outside and see that sun set while eating a great dinner.

After that we went back to our hotel to relax for the rest of the evening. Let me know if you visit the area and what you loved about it.
