Someone asked me why this isn’t the name of our newsletter and I thought about it but I wanted a series on the website that was open to everyone. Newsletter folks, they get all the deals, coupons, freebies, etc, because they took the time to sign up, so because they went that extra mil,e I make sure that they are rewarded. This weekly series is just something fun for everyone to join in on and I love that I can keep this light and open. With that being said it’s Thanksgiving next week. I will take a haitus so no gullah porch next Friday but I will be giving away some deals in my newsletter. The link to sign up can be found here. With that being said welcome to the Gullah porch a place where we sip some tea, do some shopping, and learn a thing or two.

Ask the Geechee Gal
Q: What are your plans for Thanksgiving and what are you cooking?
So let me preface this by saying I’m black, I promise I am but I hate greens, stuffing, and turkey. My mom cooked every Thanksgiving and every Christmas and I ate cereal. I couldn’t have any desserts because I didn’t eat dinner. My grandma snuck me some though lol. Once I grew up, I decided to fix my own food and start my own traditions. Every holiday we pick a theme and cook from that. This year we are doing an Italian Thanksgiving. On the menu is seafood lasagna as the main dish I haven’t come up with anything besides that yet. I also have to work my day job that day (my job is 24 hrs) and I can’t take it off, so work, cooking in between time, and watching movies with the fam.
