I took a mini trip to Savannah and thought I would cross on ova the bridge to check out Ma Daisy’s Porch in Bluffton, SC. My grandaddy was born in Savannah but raised in Beaufort so I have some family in the area. I thought I would check out this new spot and show my daughter how we Geechee eat.
If you are in Savannah, it’s only a 45 to 50 min drive from Savannah. At first I thought it was going to be far but I was like nah if I remember my mapping correctly, it shouldn’t be so my daughter and I decided to leave our friends in Savannah and take a mini trip over the bridge. The place is gorgeous! Clean ain’t the word. Y’all know how you go in some black restaurants and it has that smell …you know that smell. This is not that! Clean as a whistle. It was so clean that they were cleaning while we were there. Windows spotless, floors swept, tables wiped. I was like yessaaaaaaa
We went on a Sunday, so we did brunch. The wait wasn’t too bad. They only had one waitress, but I understood that they had just opened, so I gave them grace. Understand that they are new and still working out the kinks, so I get that. While we waited, we walked over to get some donuts….freshly baked. Baby…..go get you some. My fat ass didn’t need it but I got it and it was good.
I had the Shrimp and Grits and my daughter had the chicken and grits with a side of waffle. I also had Okra as an appetizer. I also had to teach her some of the words on the menu because she was born in jawja (Georgia) she doesn’t know the language. That was fun to teach her a little history and what the words mean, and how to pronounce them.
Overall, the place is great and I hope to be back for suppa sometime soon.
A few pictures below of our adventures. Have you ever been to Bluffton, SC?
