If you don’t know, Substack is a platform where writers can create and send out newsletters to their followers on various topics to create a community of engaged readers. It has grown more popular with content creators, authors, journalists, and everyone over the last year. Gabrielle Hickmon runs Notes From a Trip to, where she shares her life and experiences, travels and explorations as well as her breast cancer journey. She wants to share to inspire others with her newsletter to live their best lives despite what obstacles they face.
The Art of Unfolding
The Art of Unfolding by author Arielle Astoria is the same name as her amazing book. It’s a collection of poems and essays that encourages people to exude confidence in all things as they move through life. This Substack is a must-read if you find yourself feeling as though you need a little hope and inspiration.
Black Girl Healing
Omalora Thomas is a pediatrician who has worked in the US and abroad and is now on the road to healing herself, on her Substack she shares how she’s getting back to her true self and sharing her insights with other women on their path to wellness.
Moresque
Morenike Ajayi shares a weekly fashion newsletter about her style philosophy and how we can use single pieces in our wardrobe to pull our style together. She focuses on the specific clothing items and how they can be used and arranged rather than conforming to a specific trend or passing style.
The Awakening
Rounding out the black women Substack newsletter list to follow, of course, we can’t leave off something food and drink related. Audarshia Townsend shares her take on what is happening in the F&B industry including what’s new, what’s in, and what is out. You’ll want to join this Substack to get the full scoop on dining and restaurants in the community.
As you can see Substack is a great tool for a variety of industries and interests, and this list only scratches the surface.
